The Standard

What Is CARF Accreditation?

CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, is an independent, nonprofit organization that sets high standards for quality in health and human services.

Accreditation by CARF means that a provider, like Mile High Treatment & Recovery, has undergone a rigorous, peer-reviewed evaluation process and meets internationally recognized standards for care, safety, and organizational practices.

Unlike basic state licensing, CARF accreditation is voluntary. A clinic chooses to be measured against those standards, and commits to continuous quality improvement to keep the accreditation.

It means an outside body has reviewed the clinic against national standards for care, safety, staff training and ethical practice. You and your family can see that the program has been measured by someone other than the clinic itself.

CARF accreditation is voluntary and separate from the state licensing a clinic must hold. Mile High Treatment & Recovery chose to seek it.

Accreditation is not a one-time award. It requires ongoing review and periodic re-evaluation, so the clinic has to keep meeting the standards rather than meeting them once.
