What is methadone therapy?

Methadone is a long-acting opioid agonist that has been used for over 50 years to treat opioid addiction. It works by activating the same receptors in the brain that opioids do, but in a controlled, medically supervised way that reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings without producing a euphoric high.

At Mile High Treatment & Recovery, methadone is administered daily as part of our comprehensive Opioid Treatment Program (OTP). Our medical team carefully determines and adjusts your dosage to ensure optimal effectiveness and safety.

Combined with individual and group counseling, methadone therapy addresses the whole person and helps you build a foundation for lasting recovery.

Methadone and Suboxone are not the same thing

Both are FDA-approved medications for opioid use disorder. Methadone is a full opioid agonist, dispensed daily at a licensed Opioid Treatment Program like ours. Suboxone combines buprenorphine and naloxone, and it is prescribed by a certified physician for use at home. Which one suits you is a clinical decision, so bring the question to your assessment.
