What we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the separate, stronger protection that applies once you are a patient here.

This policy covers milehightr.com, the website of Mile High Treatment & Recovery, 6310 E. Exposition Ave, Denver, CO 80224.

Two different sets of rules

Please read this part first, because it matters more than anything else on this page.

Your treatment records are protected by federal law. Records that identify you as a patient of an Opioid Treatment Program are covered by 42 CFR Part 2, which is stronger than standard HIPAA protection, and by HIPAA and Colorado law. We cannot confirm to anyone that you are a patient here without your written consent, apart from the narrow situations the law requires. Those are listed on our Patient Rights page.

A message sent through this website is not a treatment record. Email, web forms and chat are ordinary internet services and they are not secure. Please do not send us medical details, test results, or anything about your substance use through this site. Call us on 720-756-7162 instead, and we will take it from there.

What we collect through this website

What you send us

If you call, email, use the chat widget or submit a form, we receive what you choose to give us. That is usually your name, phone number, email address and your message. On an insurance verification request it may also include your plan name and member ID.

Technical information

Like most websites, our host records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visited and the time of your visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

What we do not collect here

This website is not a patient portal. Do not send medical details, test results or anything you consider sensitive through the website, the chat widget or email. Call us instead, on 720-756-7162.

Why we use it

  • To answer your question and, if you ask us to, to arrange a first visit.
  • To verify insurance benefits with your plan when you ask us to.
  • To send you the information you requested by phone, SMS or email.
  • To keep the website working, secure and free of spam.
  • To meet our legal, accreditation and record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade it. We do not use anything you send us through this website to target advertising at you.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to run this website and to handle messages: a web host, a customer messaging platform behind our contact form and chat widget, and a mapping service on our contact page. They may process what you send us in order to deliver it to us, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We share information with your insurance plan only when you have asked us to verify your benefits, and only what is needed to do that. Otherwise we disclose information to third parties only where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

When you first arrive we ask whether you accept cookies. Only the cookies needed to run the site are set before you answer.

Cookies we cannot switch off

A small number of cookies are needed for the site to work at all: keeping it secure, delivering pages, and remembering the cookie choice you made so we do not ask you on every page. These do not identify you and cannot be turned off, because without them the site does not function.

Everything else waits for your answer

Measurement and marketing cookies do not run until you accept them. Nothing is loaded in the background while the banner is on screen, and choosing Reject all means those scripts are never added to the page at all, rather than added and told to behave.

Changing your mind

Select Cookie Settings at the bottom of any page to change your answer or withdraw it entirely. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and takes effect immediately. Your choice is stored in your own browser for one year, or until you clear your browsing data.

What we never do here

We do not use cookies to identify you as a patient, and we never connect anything measured on this website to a medical record. Treatment records are governed separately by HIPAA and by 42 CFR Part 2, which are described above.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you using the site or reaching us by phone.

Phone, SMS and email

If you give us your phone number or email address and ask us to get in touch, we will use them to reply. If we send you marketing or newsletter email, every message carries an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time without it affecting your care. Standard message and data rates may apply to any SMS you receive.

How long we keep it

We keep website enquiries only as long as we need them to answer you and to meet our legal and accreditation obligations, then we dispose of them securely. Clinical records are kept for the period required of an Opioid Treatment Program by federal and Colorado law.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children through it.

Your choices

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete a website enquiry. Patients have separate and stronger rights over their own treatment records, including the right to see them, which are set out on our Patient Rights page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top and bottom of this page tells you when it last changed.
